Ginkgo (Ginkgo biloba)
Ginkgo is the oldest of the living tree species, it can be traced back to the age of the dinosaurs. The tree is resistant to parasites, insects and pollution, thus it is capable of a very long life. The Chinese revere Ginkgo, as early as 2800 BC, they used the leaves to restore memory and ease breathing problems. In Europe, Ginkgo extract is accepted as a prescribed drug to fight the common symptoms of aging. In Germany, it is licensed for the treatment of cerebral insufficiency referring to a number of problems such as impaired memory, dizziness, ringing in the ears, headaches, nervousness and anxiety.

Europeans are conducting research in the use of Ginkgo as being effective against Alzheimer's disease and strokes. It has the ability to improve circulation to every area of the body including the brain. It helps keep the blood vessels supple and elastic, thus helpful in preventing heart and circulatory problems. Ginkgo improves the blood flow, so it enhances the nourishment to every part of the body, helping in conditions ranging from the ringing in the ears to numbness of the toes. Ginkgo also fight free radicals, thus it is an antioxidant. Important components of Ginkgo are flavone glycosides which are types of flavonoids, providing the antioxidant component; and terpene lactones which improve the circulation to the brain, thus bringing oxygen to the tissues. This process also helps alleviate stress.
