Oblepiha Ginseng Herbal Honey. Oblepiha is known in Chinese as "Sha-ji" and
in English as "Seabuckthorn" or "Siberian
pineapple". The products from this plant are among the most
important and leading sources of medicinal, nutritional and
cosmetic products in Russia. Traditional uses of Oblepiha in
Russia, China and Tibet date back many centuries. The products
from Oblepiha are important components of the Russian cosmonauts,
athletes and special engineers, and the cream prepared from it is
used for protection from cosmic radiation, tan-enhancement, cell
tissue regeneration, as an antioxidant, wound healing and
antiaging. Oblepiha was one of the strategically important
medicinal plants in the ex-Soviet Union.Until recently, most of the scientific investigations and findings on cultivation, processing and clinical studies of the plant were kept secret. However, state funded scientific research on plant improvement for industrial production and processing of Oblepiha has been thriving in Russia since 1940. The fruits, seeds, leaves and cork contain large amounts of chemical elements, essential oils, vitamins A, B, C, E, carotenes, flavonoids, palmitic and palmitoleic acids, unsaturated fatty acids (linoleic and linolenic acid), beta-sitosterol and many other bioactive compounds that are useful in pharmaceutical, cosmetic and nutritional applications.
